At Ethical Power we build and maintain large scale ground mount and commercial roof mounted Solar Photo Voltaic electricity generation systems commonly called Solar Farms. Today the majority of our work is focused on building large ground mount Solar Farms between 3 – 15 MWp for landowners who may have unproductive farmland or brown field sites such as landfill or disused quarries.
Thanks to our technical expertise and many years experience, Ethical Power is able to take on the complete spectrum of roles to bring about the successful installation of Solar PV projects. We offer a full turn-key solution taking a project all the way through from conception, development, finance, construction, and ultimately into operation & maintenance for the benefit of institutional investors or private landowners.
Typically we will purchase your development project once you have secured initial planning approval. You may, or may not, already have a grid connection agreement. We will look to the Landowner for a lease of between 25-30 years. Once we have completed our due diligence and we agree to purchase your project we will build the solar farm under an Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) contract. We will ensure that the solar farm can be connected to the National Grid and once generating that it is accredited to receive payment for the electricity it generates and any government subsidies that might be payable.
Often following construction, the solar farm will be sold to a city fund and the money that is derived from the sale of the electricity that is generated goes back into the fund under a Power Purchase Agreement. The project may be entitled to energy subsidy payments from the Government under either the FIt or ROCs scheme but that will depend upon each individual situation.
Once the solar farm is generating electricity we will provide a full Operations and Maintenance service at least for the first 24 months whilst many of the major components are still under warranty. This means that we have a planned maintenance program to visit the site on a regular basis to carry out essential maintenance as well as reacting to faults, which may affect production and therefore financial return.
Although we are based near Exeter our sites are located throughout the UK. With our field service engineers being based regionally we are able to commit to very quick response times. We guarantee quantifiable performance levels regarding the amount of electricity generated and our reaction times to rectify a fault. To date none of our sites have failed to meet their guaranteed performance ratios.
