Chestnut Solar Farm Successfully Energised

The 23MW Chestnut Solar farm has been successfully energised.

[15 December 2025] – Ethical Power is proud to announce that the Chestnut Solar Farm has been successfully energised and is providing clean, reliable energy to our grid.

The 23MW Chestnut Solar Farm is asset managed by Infraland in conjunction with the Barber Partnership, who selected Ethical Power as the principal Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor.

Ethical Power oversaw all major elements of the build, including engineering, civil works, module installation, electrical and mechanical integration and grid-connection activities, ensuring the project was delivered safely, efficiently and to a high technical standard.

The successful energisation marks another milestone in Infraland’s growing portfolio of utility-scale renewable assets and reflects the company’s commitment to accelerating the deployment of high-quality, low-carbon energy infrastructure across the UK. For Ethical Power, it is the 5th solar farm energised this year.

“We are pleased to have reached this important milestone with our client, Infraland. Chestnut Solar Farm was a well-developed project, and Infraland has been an outstanding partner throughout the process,” says Thomas Kneen, CEO of Ethical Power. “We’re excited about the opportunities ahead as our partnership continues to grow.”

Chestnut Solar Farm will benefit from an 81.88% Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), including the creation of over 40ha of new grasslands, both within and around the site, as well as new nesting/roosting habitats for bats and birds. The BNG plan covers several decades and will also see the planting of native trees and hedgerows on and around the site, both to screen it from public view and to create more habitats for native animals and invertebrates.

The site will also support continued agricultural use through sheep grazing, using specialised seed mixes to ensure the sheep receive the right level of nutrients. This provides farmers and landowners with more options for sheep grazing and helps keep grass levels low and energy production high.

The reinstatement and landscaping activities as well as the ongoing operations and maintenance of the asset will be overseen by Ethical Power’s O&M team. Chestnut Solar Farm will be supported by the Contract for Difference (CfD) scheme, secured by Infraland in 2024, providing long-term price stability and financial certainty for the owners and investors. The asset is expected to operate for 35 years, delivering reliable, affordable and low-carbon electricity in line with the UK’s renewable-energy and net-zero commitments.
